SPRING BLOSSOMS IN RAMALLAH AND AMMAN...

This March the Yoga Mandala project teaching team found themselves in Ramallah, Palestine with Farashe, a community based Yoga center, that offers Yoga outreach support in the West Bank. It is a voluntary run organisation, set in the city center in a donated space. The teachers there all volunteer, and the atmosphere is one of great respect and support, dignity and community.

International Yoga Day celebrations, Amman , Jordan 2017

You can hear about Yoga, you can read about Yoga and you can watch people do Yoga. But the best way to celebrate Yoga is by practicing Yoga, everyday.
A wonderful group of dedicated Yogis & Yoginis from our program at the refugee support organisation Collateral Repair Project got the opportunity to take part in the 3rd International Day of Yoga celebration at the historic location in Jordan (The Citadel). It was an experience they enjoyed a lot. This group have been practicing Yoga for over a year, some of them for 2 years and having an opportunity to practice with over 450 people was an amazing wave of energy for them to embrace.

Sameera is one of our teachers and volunteers for the Yoga Mandala Project in Jordan. She is a Palestinian refugee, and began attending Yoga classes in 2014 at CRP.She felt an immediate connection with Yoga and later was accepted onto a 200hr Yoga Teacher training course. She is a great support to the classes in the refugee community, and volunteers in our camp programs.

Here sameera describes her experience of the International Yoga day celebrations!

"Before the big day I called the men and women that attended the Yoga classes at CRP to see if they would like to attend the IYD celebration. They were very glad to be able to join us at this event. Being up at the Citadel,  we feel refreshed because it is an outdoor event. Gorgeous practice with great teacher's. I felt they came to tell the others about their experience of being a refugee and how Yoga has helped them. I'm really happy to see all of them doing the practice with Ahimsa ( do no harm) ..They just go with the flow ...Very gentle

Expressing heart and poetic humanity through his songs, Luka brings his gift generously to support this Yoga of service.  the Yoga Mandala Project are delighted to share our new website with you and also to extend our reach in providing Trauma Informed Yoga Training and support.

When a dream becomes manifest, there is such an immense feeling of gratitude. Our vision since 2014 was to create a Mandala that could grow and grow, supporting displaced people through Yoga and empowering Yoga teachers to feel personally equipped to volunteer within refugee communities. This vision has started to become a reality, through the generosity, love and support of so many. It feels like GRACE.

We now have established, ongoing projects in Jordan through Collateral Repair Project, bringing Yoga and stress management to urban refugees in Amman, and we have teachers visiting Zaartri and Asraq Refugee Camps each week, bringing trauma informed Yoga to groups of men and women there, all who have teaching roles within the camps. For those people, Yoga is a valuable tool of self care, and something that we hope that they will be able to pass on to the young people they teach in the camps.

Yoga Mandala Project is a non profit organization that provides psycho-social support and wellness through the physical and mental health benefits of Yoga and TRE (Trauma Release Exercise) to those displaced or affected by war and conflict.

We volunteer as Yoga teachers within refugee communities, working in partnership with local community organisations in Ireland and internationally.
